World Migratory Bird Day 2013 campaign trailer
The World Migratory Bird Day (WMBD) 2013 campaign team is excited to announce the release of the campaign trailer! The Trailer is inspired by this year’s World Migratory Bird Day theme “Networking for migratory birds” ( www.worldmigratorybirdday.org ). The trailer aims to show the importance of ecological networks for the survival of migratory birds as well as to encourage the international community – governments, conservation organizations and dedicated individuals alike — to work together to conserve migratory birds around the world.
Migratory birds travel huge distances on their annual journeys, sometimes even tens of thousands of kilometers. In order to successfully complete their migration, birds rely on intact networks of sites, for resting, feeding, breeding and wintering. Due to human activities, large numbers of important sites have already been damaged or lost entirely, which can have detrimental impacts on entire migratory bird populations.
Join us and take part in World Migratory Bird Day on 11 — 12 May 2013. However you decide to contribute – by organizing bird-watching tours, educational programmes, lectures, art exhibitions or other public events – every activity will enrich this global celebration!
You can learn more about World Migratory Bird Day, register your event and order free posters, stickers and postcards on the WMBD website (www.worldmigratorybirdday.org) and share your activities with a growing worldwide community behind WMBD.
