  • Melissa Etheridge performed a music video entitled “I Need To Wake Up“, written for the 2006 documentary film, An Inconvenient Truth – a project undertaken by former United States Vice President Al Gore‘s campaign to educate the people about global warming. The motion picture footage from ‘An Inconvenient Truth’ is produced and distributed by Paramount Classics, a division of Paramount Pictures Corp. The artist, Etheridge received the 2006 Academy Award for Best Original Song.
  • Michael Jackson released “Earth Song“ in November 1995 with a strong environmental message on forest degradation, animal welfare, the effects of war on destruction of infrastructure & communities, pollution, natural disasters and a glimpse of earth’s collapse. The song received a Grammy nomination in 1997, and became a top 5 hit in most European countries. The single has sold 10 million copies.
  • Jack Johnson, a Hawaiian-born singer-songwriter and guitarist delivers an environmental soft rock and acoustic rhythm for “Gone“, released in 2003 as part of his second studio album On and On.
  • Sandel is a 23 year old singer-songwriter from Sydney, Australia. “The Shadows“ is a song tribute by Sandel in “response to the greatest environmental threat of our age.” Her unique voice is an eclectic mix of folk, pop and rock.  She is currently based in NYC.
  • Michael Darnel and Darrick Lee are from Vancouver, Canada who launched a rap video“Hurtin’ Our Planet“. They were featured by TUNZA, a children and youth program of the United Nations Environment Programme.
  • A group of Australian young kids created the hip-hop song “Protect The World“using climate change as an inspiration. The kids  wrote the lyrics and played all the instruments – keyboard, flutes, harp, drums, beatbox, clapping and bass with the help of Karuna Bajracharya, a young DJ and hip-hop recording artist, who facilitated the workshop and produced the soundtrack.
